Flying Lotus Bashes the YouTube Music Awards

Flying Lotus

As you might have heard, online video giant YouTube is hosting its own award show entitled the YouTube Music Awards. That’s right, they’re taking the time to shed some light on the music videos that draw so much traffic to their service. And that last sentence is to be taken as literally as possible, because the nominees are mostly gigantic acts that get nominated for every other award out there. One of our favorite producers, Los Angeles’ Flying Lotus, took to his Twitter account to share his thoughts on why the awards show is kind of a crock. And he wasn’t alone, because somewhat frequent collaborator, Odd Future’s Tyler, The Creator, dissed YouTube, too.

The Warehouse Project 2013 Line-Ups Announced

The Warehouse Project 2013

At 9am this morning, The Warehouse Project released their full line-up of events for the 2013 season. Needless to say, it boasts a plethora of heavyweights that immediately made me consider extending my overdraft. Whether you want to bounce in speedos along to some Sven Vath, jump around to some Zinc or twerk to…well, I guess Major Lazer or Toddla T, there’s offerings to satisfy pretty much everyone here. Personally I’ve got one eye on the Resident Advisor and Circo Loco nights and by one eye, I mean both eyes. And by that, I mean I’m going. Now I just need to raise the funds. Donations are welcome.

Back to the Future

After three weeks of living like a 75-year-old man who listens to the radio and drinks scotch in the dark, I finally got the internet in my new apartment. What does that mean to you? Well it means I can start posting regularly again and from my point view, it means less time pretend shooting the inner-city geese prowling the canal outside. Vicious bastards. What tune am I posting to accompany my triumphant come back? The Wideboys London mix of T2′s ‘Heartbroken’ of course. Probably not to everyone’s taste, but a bit of a banger.

Katy B – Danger EP

Katy B - Danger EP

Danger EP is a free, 4-track release from Katy B and a group of long-time collaborators and similar talents including Jessie Ware, Jacques Greene, Wiley, Geeneus, Diplo and Iggy Azaelia. Come to think of it, a line-up like that should do a new Band Aid. They’d certainly produce something a little less confusing and woeful than “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” It would probably also annoy Sting and, in my book at least, that’s always a good thing…

Listen to the title track after the jump and download the full release over at Katy B’s official site.

New Burial Single (HDB069)

Don’t lose your shit like a teenage Beatles fan, but a new single from Burial is due to be released on December 17. Unveiled as part of a Boomkat newsletter yesterday, the release will comprise two tunes — currently just referred to as ‘One’ and ‘Two’ — and will run around 25 minutes. In terms of formats, there will be 12″, CD and digital offerings and it’ll most likely sell-out faster than the time it takes you to make a crap cup of tea, so stay alert and I’ll post more info as it becomes available.

Atlas – Feel Me

Atlas - Don't Explain

The b-side from their forthcoming Don’t Explain 12″, “Feel Me” is the latest slice of halcyon goodness from Atlas. The follow-up to Cities EP, which saw a digital release on Symbols earlier this year, it’s as rhapsodic and characterised by a composed charm as the artwork above implies. It made me do one of those smiles people always talk about, possibly the first one since I last killed…
