Where have Hotflush been? Where are they right now? And where are they going? All valid questions indeed, with answers potentially hidden somewhere within the compiled tracks of Back and 4th. It depends how fussy you are, I found them pretty much straight away but I’m also incredibly deluded/hungover so chomp on that.
Brass tacks… The CD release is split in half, with the first disc throwing out 10 brand spankers from label mainstays while the second disc is a straight up walk down memory lane. The vinyl plays out slightly differently, the precise details of which I do not know. What am I, the police? Both physical releases are available right now, with the digital out on Monday.
As usual, the best course of action is probably sacking off my ramblings and having a listen. With the compilation being simultaneously so grounded yet experimental, it would make a great gift for both up-and-coming wannabe hipsters and gnarly bass music veterans alike. The tracklist rears its beautiful head after the jump while the samplers are right here, hoorah for Dixie!
